09HHR in partnership with HNMKY, have launched their highly anticipated multicultural training program. The theme of the program is ‘instructing through multicultural education’ and it is aimed at coaches, assistants and helpers within the two organizations. The goal is to better equip participants who work directly with multicultural groups in order to make the most impact. The sessions use structured dialogue, occasional lectures and sharing of best practices.

The program consists of 4 sessions with practical assignments between sessions. The first of those was held September 15th at Hotel Arthur in Helsinki.  We had 14 participants and we started at 9am with a group breakfast, after which we proceeded to the main meeting room to begin the program. We finished at 1pm followed by a group lunch. The main aim of the first session was to build relationships in order to have more fruitful and open discussions. The first session was hosted by Jyrki Eräkorpi, the head of the social side in HNMKY and we had great reviews from all participants.

We look forward to the next session in the end of November with some surprise guest invitees. The theme for the next session is ‘coaches as role models:  how to handle the group and wearing many hats’.
